Visit the farm
No ticket booth. Just Gustu.
A visit here is a walk through a family garden with the man who planted it. Send a message a day ahead, so someone is home to welcome you.
How a visit goes
Filmed on a real visit, not a promo.
A guest wore a small camera in October 2026. Scroll along the route: every stop shows the walk exactly as it went.
- 1
Follow Gustu's scooter
Meet at the house in Perumahan Laing Asri. From there you ride behind Gustu through the village lanes, past temples and family compounds.
- 2
Walk the water channel
You park at the edge of the sawah and walk single file along the narrow concrete channel of the subak. Shoes that can get a bit muddy are a good idea.
- 3
Stand between the vines
Under the dadap trees the vanilla hangs in long curtains. Gustu shows you flowers, young pods and the old vines, and answers every question.
-
4Taste it at the house
Back home there is a drink and something sweet. You hold the cured beans, smell them, and can buy straight from the family.
Plan your visit
Good to know before you go.
- Message a day ahead
- It is a family home, not a ticket office. A short WhatsApp the day before makes sure someone is there for you.
- Opening hours
- Open most days, until 18:00. Mornings are cooler, and in flowering season you might see a flower open.
- What to bring
- Shoes that can handle grass and a little mud, a hat, and all your questions.
- The tour
- Ask Gustu on WhatsApp about times and the tour. Groups are small, so there is time for everyone.

“I've rarely met someone who speaks with such passion about what they love: vanilla.”
Gustu is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions (and we had a lot of them!). As a pastry chef I was curious to learn more about one of the most precious spices used in pastries. I took some beautiful, high quality vanilla beans with me that were perfectly hydrated for baking and patisserie.
We had a lovely time at Gustu and Monica's vanilla farm! They were so welcoming and took us on a great tour where we learned how vanilla is grown and processed. Afterward, we enjoyed drinks and cookies while hearing about their amazing vanilla products.
He was very passionate and knowledgeable about everything to do with vanilla production. The experience in the vanilla plantation was one of the highlights of my Bali trip. I bought approx. 1 kg of vanilla pods and now returned home I can share that the vanilla is delicious and of high quality.
Coming from Korea where I grow vanilla myself, I had many questions. He kindly shared his knowledge about vanilla cultivation, climate, soil composition, and even the curing process. I also learned how important drainage, shade, and natural growing conditions are. His farm perfectly showed how vanilla thrives in a balanced tropical environment.
See you between the vines.
One message is enough. Tell Gustu when you would like to come and with how many people.
